Nobody throws you a diamond parade for not marrying the wrong guy

Tonight, I'm working on my upcoming Ignite Seattle talk about subvertising and the social pressure to get married. I was thinking to myself how "nobody throws you a diamond parade when you don't marry the wrong guy," and then I remembered that Carrie Bradshaw once said something similar on Sex and the City:

"Think about it. If you are single, after graduation there isn't one occasion where people celebrate you ... Hallmark doesn't make a 'congratulations, you didn't marry the wrong guy' card."

It's still a great quote. I wish someone had gotten me that card a couple of years ago.

What do you think? Do you feel the social pressure to get married? Did you ever say "yes" to the wrong guy?
